In a recent announcement on Twitter, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson revealed that he will be reprising his role as Luke Hobbs in an upcoming “Fast & Furious” movie. Johnson had previously stepped away from the successful franchise in 2021 due to disagreements with co-star Vin Diesel.
The “Fast & Furious” series has amassed a staggering $7 billion in global box office earnings, solidifying its position as the fifth highest-grossing franchise of all time. The most recent installment, titled “Fast X” and featuring Diesel and Jason Momoa, premiered last month, garnering the second-highest global opening weekend of the year. It has already surpassed $500 million in worldwide box office revenue.
Johnson stated that he and Diesel have resolved their issues, expressing their commitment to lead with brotherhood and resolve while taking care of the franchise, its characters, and the beloved fans. He emphasized his audience-centric approach to his career and extended his love to the entire “Fast” family.
Renowned writer Chris Morgan, a veteran of the franchise, will return to oversee the script for the upcoming project. He will also work on developing Johnson’s portrayal of the audacious diplomatic security service agent, a role the actor has previously portrayed in the series.
