According to a survey on pet ownership conducted by Rakuten Insight in January 2022, 33% of respondents in Singapore stated that they owned at least one pet. This inflated pet ownership can largely be attributed to Covid-19, and is part of the nationwide spike in pet ownership during the pandemic. Additionally, as Singapore’s total fertility rate drops to historic low of 1.05, it is clear more young couples are taking it slow with furbabies before real babies. As pawrents are well-aware, raising a healthy and happy fur-baby is not an easy task.

Research has shown that mental and physical stimulation are critical to the overall health and well-being of pets. A study conducted by the Animal Behaviour Clinic at Tufts University found that dogs who engage in regular physical activity and mental stimulation exhibit fewer behavioral issues and are generally happier and healthier than those who do not. Similarly, a study published in the Journal of Veterinary Behavior found that cats who engage in regular playtime exhibit fewer behavioral issues and are less likely to suffer from obesity and other health problems.

In addition to providing physical and mental stimulation, socialization is also crucial to the well-being of pets. Socializing pets from an early age helps them develop healthy social skills and reduces the risk of behavioral issues later in life.
