Lemonier, Former Detroit Lions Linebacker Dies at 25

Former linebacker Jessie Lemonier of the Detroit Lions has passed away at the age of 25, according to an NFL team on Thursday.

In 2020, Lemonier signed a professional contract with the Los Angeles Chargers. In the 2021 season, he participated in seven games for the Lions.

“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of former Detroit Lion Jessie Lemonier,” the Lions wrote on Twitter.

“Jessie was a model team mate and wonderful young man who is gone far too soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.”

After joining the Houston Gamblers, Lemonier was recently traded to the Birmingham Stallions of the United States Football League.

The Lions withheld information on the manner of death.

Breiden Fehoko, a defensive end with the Chargers, tweeted images of himself and Lemonier with the caption: “We came in to the league together had to battle through everything rookie year to get where we are. You were always filled with life bro. I LOVE YOU BRO!”
