This new car from massive car company Maserati marks a new age for them since their first vehicle came to life back in 1926. This new modern car dubbed ‘Folgore’, which means ‘lightning’ in Italian will make its way to the market in 2023. It will be released with two different powered versions, the Modena and Trofeo, with the Trofeo being a sportier version.

Maserati first teased the new car in March and showed the world a prototype in April. This new GranTurismo car is set to be the most powerful of the three new GranTurismo models. Reports from Verge indicated that the car can go from zero to 62mph in 2.7 seconds, topping out at a 199mph max speed.
One of the most unique designs from this new car is the “T-bone” shape that keeps the battery pack. This is to maintain the tradition of sports cars with low heights.

Maserati aims to offer electric versions of all its vehicles by 2025 and plans to stop selling gas-powered cars by 2030. This is to jump ahead of their competitors in the future of electrical vehicles.
In a public statement by the brand, they said “Bolstered by the outstanding results it has achieved, Maserati is carving out the path that will make it the first luxury brand to launch a 100% electric sports car”. Production of the highly anticipated GranTurismo Folglore will begin.
Maserati says in one of the Folgore-themed social media posts that the GranTurismo will be the company’s first model to “adopt 100% cutting-edge electric solutions derived from Formula E.”
The GranTurismo Folgore will compete against other luxury electric sportscars such as the 2023 Audi e-tron GT and the 2023 Porsche Taycan making it one of the most expensive electric sportscars on the market, priced at around $170,000.
