There is no question that Elon Musk is the world’s richest person. On August 17th 2022 he tweeted that he was going to buy the football club Manchester United Plc.
Musk tweeted, “I’m buying Manchester United ur welcome.” The post gave no indication of when or how he would go about trying to land a contract with Manchester United.
The American Glazer family presently has control over the team. The Glazers were reportedly willing to sell the club, but only if they received a bid thats above 4 billion pounds ($4.84 billion) last year, according to The Daily Mirror.
One of the football teams with the most fan support worldwide is Manchester United. They have a record of 20 times as English champions and three times as winners of the European Cup, the top club competition in the world of soccer.
After the team placed sixth in the English Premier League previous season, and crosstown rivals Manchester City won a second consecutive championship, discontent among supporters at the Glazers’ apparent lack of ambition to sign elite players increased.
Due to the team’s troubles on the field, Manchester United supporters have recently protested against the Glazers, who purchased the club for 790 million pounds (US$955.51 million) in 2005. After United participated in an unsuccessful attempt to establish a breakaway European Super League last year, the anti-Glazer campaign gathered steam. Some supporters have pushed Musk to purchase Manchester United rather than Twitter.
Given Musk’s history of outlandish behaviors and statements, it may be challenging to determine whether he is kidding.
