Valentino Launches The New Eyewear Chapter

Maison Valentino will launch a new chapter of the Valentino Eyewear with a first capsule collection that will be released in July 2022.

Valentino signed a new exclusive agreement with Switzerland-based Akoni Group for the design, manufacture, and distribution of luxury eyewear worldwide with a commitment to craftsmanship, expertise, and quality in December 2021.

The first collection will feature three new exclusive styles that will embody the Valentino Couture approach by utilizing the finest materials and a combination of time-honored and cutting-edge production techniques. Three models named after the numbers of the historical Valentino headquarters, a homage to the Maison: Paris Place Vendome (VIII), Milan Turati (XVI), and finally Rome Mignanelli (XXII) where the heart of creativity with Pierpaolo Piccioli is.

Valentino eyewear collection conveys the values of the Maison and the mastery of couture. The culture of Couture and the rituals. Couture as a field where the processes remain traditional and unique but at the same time gives the possibility of experimentations. The new eyewear generation is 100% produced in the finest workshop in Japan, utilizing the highest quality materials and techniques. Artisans dedicate decades of their lives to mastering their crafts and passing their knowledge through generations.

Couture is about excellence, details, it is about the perfection in the execution, but it is also personal, individual and self-expression. The Creative Director envisioned the new eyewear ensuring it matched all the values he believes in: a celebration of diversity though a product that emphasizes this belief.

A luxury High-End capsule collection made of three sunglass styles in ten colorways. The second launch will offer six additional styles and will blast in October 2022. Maison’s signature codes – from the iconic stud and V-Logo Signature, to the color palette that clearly yet subtly conveys the brand’s Haute Couture heritage.

The new Valentino Eyewear collection will be available from July in selected Valentino boutiques, on and exclusive eyewear retailers worldwide.


Valentino VIII is a feminine combined titanium and acetate cat-eye shape that marries 50’s retro-cool with a distinctly modern flair for timeless style, lightweight comfort, and lasting quality. Featuring technically sophisticated design elements as iconic Valentino 3D rockstuds on the top and front of the bridge, progressive twisted temples, extruded stud temple tips and custom hinges. The style is available in heritage Valentino color combinations including black, clear brown and crystal bordeaux. VIII is the pièce de résistance for the graceful yet edgy modern-day femme fatale.

Valentino XVI is an oversized 80’s inspired aviator shape and low base curve retro lenses with a fashion-forward presence. The style is the ultimate aviator with its iconic 3D Valentino rockstuds on the bridge, brow bar, temples, and temple tips completely made in Japanese titanium. Innovative design and construction technologies project the multi-color gradient sun lenses beyond the eye rim to enhance visual impact and highlight the complementary palette of sophisticated Valentino heritage color combinations.

Valentino XXII the historical headquarter of the Maison where Pierpaolo Piccioli with the ateliers and his creative studio are based. The iconic model has been created to pay homage to the Valentino Creative Director, inspired by his personal frame. Featuring a modern interpretation of the retro 60’s Wellington shape made iconic by Golden Era Italian cinema, easy to wear. It is available in solid black, brown tortoise and mid-honey tortoise for a timeless yet retro sensibility. The style features an 8mm thick front that’s elegantly sculpted to maximize volume and wearability with recognizable embellishments including iconic 3D Valentino rockstuds on the front, temples, temple tips, five-barrel hinges and custom wire core.
